While everyone else sticks to hard shots and pints of Guinness, blend up a Strawberry Leprechaun Boozy Smoothie this St. Patrick’s Day for a cocktail you’ll genuinely enjoy drinking. It has just a slight sweetness from the use of Baileys (or our homemade Irish Cream, which we have to say makes this recipe even better) and Cointreau. You could even go mocktail by substituting the Baileys in our Strawberry Boozy Smoothie for an extra cup of milk plus, and removing the Cointreau and rum, too, so the kids can take part in a new tradition as well.
Does Baileys Actually Come From Ireland?
It is in fact called Baileys Irish Cream for a reason! Back in 1974, Baileys creators, Tom Jago, James Espey, David Gluckman, and Hugh Seymour-Davies, introduced the world to a combination of two things Ireland does best: delicious dairy cream and world-renowned Irish whiskey. In the end these two purely Irish ingredients produce one of the top-selling liqueurs, especially around St. Patrick’s Day. Through this project, Ireland was able to prove their footing in a world of growing mass-production of luxury products, especially in the United States.
