Because our first House of the Dragon cocktail was so good, and because we were impressed *ahem* with the appearance… that Aemond Targaryen makes at the brothel in season 2 episode 3, we needed to make another cocktail for this fantasy tale. Our Aemond at the Brothel Cocktail takes that scene (y’know, the one where Aemond stands up from his bedmate Sylvi, revealing all) and creates an ode with the garnish of a snacking cucumber. Plus, dried chili peppers bring some rosiness to our cheeks in honor of the blushing we all did as soon as Aemond’s cheeks appeared. So let this recipe be a chance to rewatch episode 3 the right way; hefty drink in hand and pausing the TV at the right moment.
What is the Brothel Scene with Aemond in House of the Dragon?
You’ve probably heard references to the brothel scene in House of the Dragon or viewed it yourself, but do you know what it all means? Caution, spoilers ahead! Here we see Targaryen brothers Aemond and Aegon meeting in a brothel. Aemond reclines in bed cuddling an older woman, Sylvi. This character is the woman to whom Aemond’s brother made him lose his virginity long ago. Aegon criticizes Aemond for still being interested in the same old woman all this time. In defense, Aemond stands up vulnerably, bearing all, even without his eyepatch. In this stance of defense, he shows his brother and the guards that it doesn’t matter what they say or think, they cannot hurt him. With this, he walks out feeling the power of self-determination course throughout him.
