Posted: Jan. 13, 2012
By Victoria Bradley

When infamous food writer Michal Pollan came to town to deliver a lecture at Heinz Hall as part of the Pittsburgh Speakers Series from Robert Morris University, we circled the date on our calendars and started a nutritional fast to stave off the guilt that would surely ensue after an evening with expert, who so astutely brought us The Omnivore’s Dilemma and four other New York Times bestsellers

Bringing Paris to Pittsburgh

I gingerly fork into the individual mousse cake, an intricately decorated parfait au chocolat, with pieces of gold on top. I fall head-over-heels. It features an almost bitter-sweet chocolate, more of a dark chocolate or mocha-y taste. The cake is less rich and more decadent.

Nemacolin’s Wine & Food Stomp seven-course wonder
Posted: Sept. 16, 2011
By Victoria Bradley
Nemacolin’s Wine & Food Stomp is a Laurel Highlands revelry, complete with gorgeous gaping vineyard tours and actual stomping of the grapes. It’s the one weekend every year that we can pretend we’re in the movie A Walk in the Clouds. And the Saturday night wine dinner is the crown jewel — the collector’s bottle, if you will — of the weekend’s events. I was there. And, it was amazing.

An Unexpected Getaway
The Reverie that is Carnegie Inn & Spa
Posted: Sept. 6, 2011
By Victoria Bradley
In our defense, we thought it was in Carnegie. My partner, Jenn, agreed to tag along as I checked out the dining and accommodations at Carnegie Inn & Spa (an invite from PR guru Christina Dickerson). However, I was booked in meetings until almost dinner time, and we hadn’t even thought of calling a dog walker when TABLE ad rep Catherine Vogel Emanuel texted me with a “Carnegie Spa is in State College, toots.”
We loaded into my SUV and hightailed it to Central Pennsylvania, speeding to make it before dinner was over — but not so fast that we weren’t in awe of the silver fins of wind turbines, and stunning Pennsylvania drive through the dusk (Gah, that was gorgeous).
We were still breathless as we ducked into the Inn. Inside, the buzz of a local networking happy hour was dying down. Beautiful people in silk dresses and suits were setting down wine glasses and exchanging business cards. We spotted a smart-looking, spiky-haired woman in an olive chef’s coat. It had to be Lisa Palermo.
